Kansas State Basketball: 2018-19 keys for the Wildcats to win at Baylor
1. A big performance from Barry Brown Jr.
Kansas State returned all five starters from their 2018 Elite Eight team. Besides Wade, the top player from that group was Barry Brown Jr., the Wildcats’ senior starting point guard.
Brown is the Wildcats’ leading scorer, averaging 15.5 points per game on the season. In Tuesday’s upset win over the Jayhawks, Brown dropped 18 points, four rebounds and five assists, turning in a big performance in his team’s biggest game of the season.
Brown will need to performance much like he did on Tuesday if the Wildcats want to make it eight in a row in the Big 12. As the prime ball-handler for Kansas State, Brown’s play will dictate the direction of the Wildcats on offense.
Additionally, getting other players involved will be huge. Baylor is a very strong defensive team, especially on guards, so Brown will need to do as much as possible to get big men, such as Wade, as involved as possible on offense.
Heading down the home stretch of his final collegiate season, Brown would certainly love to end his time at Kansas State on a strong note. No better way to do that than helping them earn a massive win on the road against Baylor.
Brown was a key cog in the Wildcats’ elite eight run last season, and if they want a chance to return there, or better, Brown will need to move the needle for the remainder of the season.
