Auburn Basketball: How Tigers reached the 2019 Final Four
By Dakota Cox
The highest point of Auburn’s season
The answer to where Auburn’s high point of the season was makes their path to the Final Four clear. Their peak is right now. If you want to place a high point within the regular season, it would be the last stretch of games. That’s why they’re still winning. They are playing their best ball at the right time.
Auburn has won their past 12 games. To end the regular season, they won their last four games all by 6 points or less. Those games helped this team figure out how to fight in hostile environments and adverse circumstances.
That little run expanded when Auburn went on to win the SEC Tournament. They needed some help along the way (specifically a bad call against Florida), but they took advantage of their luck and used it to win an SEC Tournament title.
Their best regular season win would probably be their win against Tennessee in their last game of the regular season. Tennessee was fighting for the SEC Title, and Auburn got a nice win against a team playing their best ball.
If you want Auburn’s best win before the NCAA Tournament in general, it would be the SEC Tournament championship game. They got another crack at Tennessee, and they beat them by 20 this time around. The confidence gained in these two wins helped the Tigers build crucial momentum for the NCAA Tournament.
