Texas Tech Basketball: Breaking down the 2019 recruiting class
Jahmius Ramsey – Duncanville, TX
CG | 6-foot-4 | 195 lbs | No. 31 overall
Not only is Jahmius Ramsey the top-rated player joining Texas Tech for this season but he is also the highest-ranked recruit to ever commit to the program. An elite 6-foot-4 combo guard with a high all-around skill level, he should be an immediate contributor for the team. He brings plenty of size to the table and can be a major threat with or without the ball in his hands. When necessary, he can create for others, knock down the open perimeter jumper, or create for himself off the bounce.
His best skill, at this moment, is his scoring but it would be a mistake to overlook the idea that he can be a solid defender as well. He is already extremely well-built and he uses his combination of strength and quickness to shut down most perimeter scorers. Ramsey also uses those same gifts to take the ball to the basket and finish through traffic on the offensive end of the floor. He pretty much does everything well.
With regards to his playing time potential, Ramsey will be a featured part of the rotation from the opening tip of next season. Davide Moretti and Kyler Edwards are projected to start in the backcourt heading into next season, but Ramsey will *at the least* be one of the top reserves on the team. He is the highest-rated player to ever commit to Texas Tech and his talent speaks for itself.
That concludes this look at Texas Tech’s incoming 2020 class. These seven commits should be major parts of the program over the next few years and head coach Chris Beard has to be happy with this class. Watch out for these to become household names.
