Florida Gators

Florida, in my opinion, is the best fit for Kerry Blackshear Jr. because of how well the program fits being able to provide tons of playing time and a shot at the national title. Although not ranked in every preseason top-25, the Gators project as an SEC contender with a high ceiling heading into this coming season. Their biggest issues, on paper, center around youth and a lack of proven talent in the frontcourt. Blackshear would fix both of those problems and propel the team up the preseason national rankings.

With Andrew Nembhard and Tre Mann running the guard spots in Gainsville, there is plenty of elite playmaking on the roster and this will lead to a balanced attack on the offensive end. With Blackshear’s versatility as a player who can score both inside and out, these playmaking guards will be able to maximize their talent as the roster would be extremely coherent. Head coach Mike White has been remarkably successful on the recruiting trail as of late and adding the best grad transfer in the country would only increase his pedigree heading into what could be a very successful season.

With regards to the transfer recruitment, Blackshear recently visited the Florida campus (prior to heading to Arkansas). This is a great sign of the mutual interest between the star and the program but there are several other great options for Blackshear as well.

At this point in time, it seems as though Blackshear will be playing in the SEC. I am not ready to rule out any of the others, but the trio of Arkansas, Kentucky, and Florida look to be the favorites at this point in time. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
