Drew Timme – Richardson, TX

C | 6-foot-10 | 235 lbs | No. 41 overall

One of the top centers in the 2019 class, Drew Timme is going to be an immediate impact player for the Zags. Although not the most athletic or physically imposing big man, Timme brings plenty of both to the table in addition to his extremely polished game. He is superb around the basket and boasts a variety of post moves that make him very hard to stop. In addition, he has showcased the ability to step out and knock down the open mid-range jumper as his game is continuing to expand. Although not his biggest offensive strength, he is a capable passer when under duress as well.

His motor is also spectacular. Timme is seemingly always giving a ton of effort and this is evident on both ends of the floor. He chases loose balls, rotates on the defensive end, and hustles after rebounds. There is still room for development from the youngster, particularly with regards to rim protection, but he should be an impact big due to his energy and polish on the offensive end. If he picks up team defensive scheming right away, he will be in great shape. He is ranked as the No. 41 overall recruit in the country for a reason.

Filip Petrusev is widely considered to be the starting center for this coming season but Timme should play solid minutes behind him. As a reserve big, the offense could even run through him for stretches. He is that talented around the basket and as a passer. Timme brings a bit of an old-school game to the table and it is hard to disagree with Jerry Meyer’s player comparison on 247Sports: Ethan Happ. He might not reach those All-American levels but there are similarities in playing style.
