Wisconsin Basketball: Analyzing targets to finish the 2020 recruiting class
Brandon Angel – Encinitas, CA
SF | 6-foot-7 | 200 lbs | Unranked
Brandon Angel was an unknown on the recruiting trail for a long time. During the past couple of months, though, he has really started to showcase his abilities as a potential high-major talent. Although currently unranked by the 247Sports Composite, he has received offers from both Stanford and Wisconsin. That list of high-majors should also continue to expand as he is clearly on many radars after his strong performances of the summer. At 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds, he brings plenty of size to the small forward slot and is a blossoming all-around talent.
Angel has shown the ability to be a solid perimeter threat and that makes him a tantalizing prospect due to his size. Wisconsin was one of the first high-majors to join this recruitment and the program should be regarded as a serious player. This is due to the fact that it not take watching Angel long for Coach Gard to realize he was worthy of a scholarship offer. Angel played exceptionally well at the adidas Gauntlet Finale and this definitely caught the attention of many schools.
Considering Angel’s location on the west coast, it might be difficult for the Badgers to lure him away from in-state programs such as Stanford and Cal. Nonetheless, the coaching staff did a nice job finding a diamond in the rough here and that could pay dividends down the road. Angel might not be a true bruising frontcourt piece but he would be another nice shooter on the perimeter with potential to become a matchup nightmare with his size.
