Bryce Thompson – Tulsa, OK

CG | 6-foot-5 | 175 lbs | No. 20 overall

One of the top combo guards in the entire class, Bryce Thompson is near the top of the priority list for a number of programs. At 6-foot-5, he brings elite size to the position and his multi-faceted skills as a scorer and playmaker make him a versatile prospect. Thompson can absolutely fill it up at all three levels and his court vision is on display with his creating abilities both for himself and others. Although he likely needs to add some weight and improve defensively, Thompson has star potential given those other characteristics.

Even though Michigan State is a dangerous program in every recruiting battle, this will be a difficult one to win. This is due to the fact that the Oklahoma native seems to be leaning towards staying closer to home. This has led many to believe that Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Kansas are the favorites in this recruitment. The Spartans issued a scholarship offer to the young star in early May and hopefully a strong relationship is blossoming that could carry the program to near the top of his list. That is far easier said than done, though, as this could be a very difficult commit to snag.

With that said, it is important to mention that Thompson did take an official visit to campus shortly after receiving his scholarship offer. This definitely showed the mutual interest between the prospect and the program and it will be interesting to see if that results in a commitment. Landing Thompson would not only be a major win by adding talent, but also by taking away a potential star from a fellow perennial title contender in Kansas.
