Michigan State Basketball: Analyzing top potential 2020 recruiting targets
Isaiah Jackson – Geneva, OH
PF | 6-foot-9 | 190 lbs | No. 17 overall
Isaiah Jackson is the top-rated player on Michigan State’s recruiting board and it seems as though the program is in a great position to land him. At this point in time, the Spartans hold all seven crystal ball predictions for the extremely talented power forward and he would be a massive addition to the 2020-21 roster. With a wiry 6-foot-9 frame and athlete athleticism, Jackson can be a matchup nightmare for opponents. Although his recruiting ranking has dipped a bit since the inception of the 2020 rankings, Jackson has improved his game quite well and is still a five-star prospect.
He runs the floor tremendously well, rebounds at a high rate, and should be an elite-level defender right away. In addition to being a “switchable” forward on the defensive end, Jackson uses his athleticism and IQ to swat away shots with consistency. He projects as a strong rim-protecting forward at the college level and he can also finish above the rim with the best of them. While playing for The Family Detroit (MI) on the EYBL circuit this summer, Jackson posted averages of 10.9 points (53.7% FG), 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game across 18 contests.
Jackson should clearly be one of Michigan State’s top priorities at the moment as he would be a superb addition to this class. The Spartans seem to be the clear favorite right now but Jackson is expected to take his time with his final decision. The coaching staff will have to remain diligent and that will hopefully lead to a commitment down the road.
That concludes this look at some Michigan State’s top targets at the moment. These are surely to change over the coming months but the Spartans seem to be looking at some of the top prospects in the class. It will be interesting to see which ones eventually suit up for Coach Izzo.
