St. John’s Basketball: 2020 recruiting targets for the Red Storm
Cliff Omoruyi – Roselle, NJ
C | 6-foot-11 | 230 lbs | No. 48 overall
One of the more physically imposing centers in the 2020 class, Cliff Omoruyi will be an impact player at the college level right away. He is ranked just inside of the top-50 for the class and has attracted the attention of many high-majors. Omouryi currently has visits scheduled to UConn, Temple, Pitt, and St. John’s while several others are also involved. Watch out for programs such as Kentucky, Arizona, or Louisville to also ramp up their efforts with Omouryi in the near future as well. As it stands, the Red Storm seem to be in a relatively solid position to make a strong pitch. St. John’s definitely needs to add frontcourt pieces in this class and Omoruyi would be an amazing snag. He should be a dominant force on the glass at the college level and he absolutely punishes rims with emphatic slams.
Josh Hall – Durham, NC
SF | 6-foot-9 | 190 lbs | No. 42 overall
Josh Hall is the top-rated player on St. John’s radar in this class. An athletic wing standing at 6-foot-9, Hall projects as a matchup nightmare at the college level. He is a smooth performer when on the court and is oozing potential on both ends of the floor. Ranked as a top-50 prospect in the country, it is no secret that high-major programs from around the country are seeking his commitment. St. John’s offered him a scholarship in mid-August, so they are a relatively new player in this recruiting battle. Some of the others involved include Louisville, Alabama, and NC State (among others). This will be a tough recruiting battle to win but there is no clear favorite. If the Red Storm are able to bring him to campus for a visit, that would really help.
That concludes this look at St. John’s top 2020 recruiting targets. Posh Alexander is a strong start but there are still two open scholarships remaining to fill. Who will Coach Anderson land to complete his first class as the leader of the program? We will soon find out.
