Power Forward

Minutes Breakdown: Silvio de Sousa (25), Jalen Wilson (15)

The biggest news of the offseason for Kansas was the news that Silvio de Sousa, a former four-star recruit that played a big role in the Jayhawks’ run to the 2018 Final Four, will be reinstated from his two-year suspension and will be able to play all season.

De Sousa will start at power forward for the Jayhawks and is expected to put up big minutes and numbers all across the stat sheet. One of the most talented players on the roster, De Sousa should make a huge impact in his first season back.

Behind De Sousa is Jalen Wilson, the Jayhawks’ top recruit. Wilson is a small forward as well as a power forward, but in order to get him the opportunity to showcase his talent in-game, he’ll likely see more time at the power forward position. Wilson should adapt to the role easily, as he has the scoring skills to produce from any of the five positions on the floor.

Other options can play the four, but from a technical stance, the Jayhawks will likely start the season with just Wilson and De Sousa at power forward. Between those two, the four might be the most talented position on the team, with a pair of newcomers who should make huge impacts this season.
