Arizona State Basketball: 2019-20 keys for road matchup against Arizona

Create 2nd Chance Points
As I touched on above, U of A’s defense this season has been outstanding. They’ve been stifling inside the 3-point line and are allowing the 89th least points per game in the country in spite of 2 recent games against strong offenses in Gonzaga (who scored 84 against them) and Saint John’s
(who scored 70). If ASU is going to get their first top 25 win of the year, they’ll need to find a different way to attack Arizona’s defense than what their other opponents have used. The best way to do that will be to create 2nd chance points.
Arizona has been allowing 9 offensive rebounds per game and their defensive rebounding percentage is in the bottom half amongst all teams in the country. ASU hasn’t been much better, but they have one player that can be a difference-maker in this area. Romello White could have a huge impact on this game if he can dominate the offensive glass like he did against Creighton. The second looks he would create would come with U of A’s defense scrambling and would likely get ASU an open look every time.
This key is obviously dependent upon Romello White recovering from his ankle injury in time to play in this game. If he doesn’t play then the Wildcats might actually have the advantage on the glass. ASU needs White to play and they need him to step up in a big way to get them past their rival.
