1. Quade Green will be unavailable for the rest of conference play

The 6’0 sophomore transfer is academically ineligible until mid-March, which could be until the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  Losing the quarterback of the Husky offense will be detrimental to the Washington Pac-12 championship hopes, as well as even getting an at-large birth to the big tournament.  UW is now 1-2 in conference play.

Green was averaging 11.6 ppg and, more importantly, 5.3 assists in more than 30 minutes of play.  The transfer from Kentucky was also leading the Huskies in three-point percentage at 44.7% (21 for 47).

Without Green on Thursday, Washington managed only 55 points, albeit against a tough Stanford Cardinal defense ranked #15 in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency.  The Huskies finished the game with 21 turnovers and only dished out five assists.

In addition, Green’s absence impacted the teammate’s game.  The player that suffered most was freshman post Isaiah Stewart.  A big part of Stewart’s game has been the beneficiary of Green’s penetration and dishes.  Stewart finished the game with only four points.  The only game he has scored less than a dozen all season.

Unfortunately, the Huskies did not have much depth on the point and still don’t.  Sophomore Elijah Hardy came into the game against Stanford averaging just 0.8 ppg and 0.9 apg in less than eight minutes a game.  Hardy played 31 minutes Thursday, scoring two points with three assists and three turnovers.
