Mid-major Basketball power rankings: Rhode Island, New Mexico State make moves
24. Harvard Crimson (14-6, 3-2 in Ivy League)
Road play in the Ivy League can be brutal, with Harvard finding out the hard way. They lost back-to-back close games against both Penn and Princeton, though neither should be considered a bad loss. Leading scorer Bryce Aiken has been out the past few games with an injury, forcing head coach Tommy Amaker to go deep into his bench.
The Crimson did get back a road win at first-place Yale, although they needed a missed free throw at the end to avoid choking a big lead. With Aiken possibly out even longer, sophomore Noah Kirkwood will have to pick up the scoring load.
23. Liberty Flames (22-3, 8-2 in the Atlantic Sun)
The back-to-back losses to Stetson and North Florida have eliminated the Flames from any at-large consideration. Now they have to handle business against the rest of the ASUN, which they have in the past three games in comfortable fashion versus the bottom-tier. Two weeks from now will decide the regular-season title, with return games at home versus both Stetson and North Florida.
This is still a big year for Liberty as a program, with an opportunity to get 30+ wins and make it consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament. With their three leading scorers all being seniors, this might be their best chance at making noise for a while.
