BYU Cougars (19-7, 8-3 WCC)
NET: 23 | KPI: 41 | SOR: 34 | BPI: 20 | KP: 17 | Sag: 26
Q1: 2-5 | Q2: 4-2 | Q3: 4-0 | Q4: 8-0
BYU landed a No. 6 seed in my most recent bracketology but that was partially due to the fact that the team cannot play on Sundays. I had to move the Cougars up a seed line to accommodate that in my field but they are still quite safely in the tournament even with that taken out of consideration. BYU just has to avoid suffering two or more bad losses down the stretch and it will be safe. Current Bracketology Placement: No. 6 seed.
Saint Mary’s Gaels (20-6, 7-4 WCC)
NET: 39 | KPI: 39 | SOR: 37 | BPI: 37 | KP: 37 | Sag: 39
Q1: 2-3 | Q2: 5-1 | Q3: 5-2 | Q4: 7-0
Saint Mary’s has two Q3 losses and that is the main reason for it sitting on the bubble. Thankfully, the team does hold Top 40 rankings every single committee-used metric and it should be in decent shape to make the NCAA Tournament. The Gaels still have to play at Santa Clara and at Gonzaga, though, so their road to the finish isn’t very easy. Considering those two games remain, winning at home against a tough Pacific squad this week will be important. SMC is in pretty good shape right now but needs to play well down the stretch. Current Bracketology Placement: No. 10 seed.
Lots of work to do: None.
