2. Kansas (23-3, 12-1) at Baylor (23-1, 12-0) – Saturday, Feb 22

The Jayhawks took care of business against Iowa State on Monday to set up a massive matchup on Saturday against the No. 1 team in the country (assuming the Bears beat Oklahoma) on Saturday. These two teams currently have the best resumes in all of college basketball per the Selection Committee, and will likely need multiple losses outside of this game to fall off the 1 line.

What makes this game so important is that whoever wins this rematch, they’ll have a No. 1 seed locked up barring a collapse. The rest of the Big 12 has shown that they’re not able to beat either of these teams so the odds of a third meeting in the conference tournament are high. A win by Baylor guarantees them being the No. 1 overall seed as well.

1. Gonzaga (26-1, 12-0) at BYU (21-7, 10-3) – Saturday, Feb 22

The other No. 1 seed on the line this weekend is Gonzaga, who has their toughest test to date in the WCC. BYU, with a now healthy Yoeli Childs, has won six straight games and is ranked for the first time in nearly a decade. The Cougars also have been rising up the Bracketology seedlines, going anywhere between a 6 or a 7 seed. A win over Gonzaga would potentially push them to a 5 seed if everything works out, where a loss could have them around the 8 or 9 line in the NCAA Tournament.

As for the Bulldogs, they’re in a neck-and-neck battle with San Diego State for the West Region No. 1 seed. A quad 1 road win over BYU will only boost their resume, while the Aztecs aren’t playing anymore Quad 1 games the rest of the way. And considering that a rising Duke is coming into play, a loss from Gonzaga this weekend could push them onto the 2 line.

That wouldn’t be the worst thing, as the Bulldogs still would be placed into the West Region behind San Diego State. But this is a team that has won six straight against BYU on the road and should have Killian Tillie for the game. Along with Kansas vs Baylor, this matchup featuring the top two WCC teams will be must-see on Saturday.
