NCAA Basketball: BYU, Darius Quisenberry top mid-major performers of the week

Best Performance, Individual – Darius Quisenberry, Youngstown State
Darius Quisenberry turned in one of the top individual scoring performances of the season on Thursday to lead Youngstown State to a win over the Horizon League’s top team, Wright State.
The sophomore scored 41 points on the Penguins home floor to lead them past the Raiders with ease, 88-70. He shot 14-26 from the field, 7-11 from the three-point line, and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. He was one of only two players on his team to score in double-figures (Naz Bohannon had 16), and he scored nearly half of his team’s points. He also had six rebounds, two assists, and one steal for good measure.
Quisenberry’s follow-up performance was not great in a loss to Northern Kentucky, the other top team in the Horizon, but Thursday’s outing was good enough to earn him the Player of the Week honors after willing Youngstown State to a crucial win. They are currently in a three-way tie for third in the conference standings. Every win counts if the Penguins have the hopes to knock out one of the Horizon’s top two squads in the conference tournament to earn the program’s first-ever March Madness bid.
