Bracketology 2020: Utah State, Rutgers and Wisconsin among biggest winners
Cincinnati Bearcats
After missing out on a major opportunity for a huge win against Houston, Cincy finds themselves right there on the bubble, with some projecting them in and others having them out. But the Bearcats needed to sweep their final regular-season matchups against South Florida or Temple or else have to win the AAC Tournament altogether.
Both games looked like losses early on, with the Bearcats trailing by double-digits in the first halves. It took a herculean effort in the second half of both matchups for Cincinnati to hold on, including the comeback to beat the Owls in the final seconds, 64-63. A loss would’ve been awful for their resume and instead, keeps them afloat on the bubble.
The seedings have yet to be finalized in the AAC Tournament, so there’s a chance that Cincy will have to face Houston before the finals. That game itself will be the de facto play-in matchup for the Bearcats, who likely will be out if they can’t win, yet would be projected inside the bubble with a victory. This week didn’t move the needle much for the team but they avoided major damage to their resume, which is just as important at this point and time.
