9. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama football has a process that it lives by. Alabama basketball is going to need some pointers. We knew that this was going to be a rebuilding year with Nate Oats taking over with an entirely new strategy, but there were high hopes with Alabama’s talent.

What really plagued the Tide was the injury bug. It started with losing James Rojas for the season before it even started. They also lost Jahvon Quinerly due to ineligibility when they expected him to get a waiver. Add in injuries to Beetle Bolden, John Petty, and Herb Jones throughout the season, and Alabama had the cards stacked against them.

They also turned into a team that relied heavily on three-point shooting despite only having a few quality shooters. it will take some time for Oats to recruit his type of guys for the Tide, but I like where they are heading. Even if Herb, Petty, and Kira Lewis go to the NBA, you’ve got Shackelford as the perfect player in Nate Oats’ offense.

If they somehow managed to get two of those three stars to return for next year, Alabama will have just about everything they need for an NCAA Tournament run. And with this year’s tournament being canceled, you can still officially say that Nate Oats has not missed an NCAA Tournament at Alabama.
