SEC Basketball: Final 2019-20 power rankings for end of the season

8. Texas A&M Aggies
Texas A&M was one of the worst offensive teams in the SEC this year, but that can be expected with this team. They don’t rely on a heavily-powered offense to win games. They tough it out on defense, minimize mistakes, and score the easy points.
You usually can’t play like that in the SEC because of the discipline it takes to minimize your own errors, but the Aggies had a major advantage this year. They were one of the oldest teams in the SEC, being filled with upperclassmen. That level of continuity is very rare in college, but a lot of their stars from last year continued to ball out this year.
The question is clearly where they go from here. A downfall to a veteran team is that you have a lot of pieces that you have to replace the next year. It’s unknown which younger players will stay, but there will have to be some players that you have to replace unless the NCAA gives everyone another year of eligibility.
They have three guards coming in through recruiting, but I expect that they will look for younger players already on the roster to step up. Their success in the future remains to be seen, but never count out Buzz Williams. He knows what he’s doing with the Aggies, and his squad is always going to be ready to compete.
