7. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas knew that times were going to be hard after losing their star from last year, but they had reason for optimism. They came into this year as a veteran team with plenty of experience. Two rotation players were seniors including Jimmy Whitt, who led the team in minutes per game.

You also got to retain Isaiah Joe, a star from last year. He was one of four players who averaged double digits in scoring for the Razorbacks, and he was also fourth on the team in rebounds.

However, the clear star on the team was Mason Jones. He led the team in points, rebounds, and assists. The junior was everything the Razorbacks could have asked for, but they were missing one thing with this team.

The inconsistency from their bigs really hurt Arkansas. They just didn’t have the size that it takes to consistently compete in the SEC. It’s what kept them from beating teams like LSU, Auburn, and Kentucky on a consistent basis. If they had pulled off a few more upsets, they might’ve been near the top of the second tier of teams in the SEC.

They also went on a five-game losing streak that inevitably plagued their season. It’s already hard enough to make it to the NCAA Tournament for Arkansas. Losing like that was the nail in the coffin.
