Landers Nolley  II (Virginia Tech)

2019-20: 15.5 Points, 5.8 Rebounds, 2.4 Assists

One of the most prized players in the portal right now is Landers Nolley II from Virginia Tech. The extremely talented and athletic redshirt freshman was dominant for the Hokies this past season where he lead the team in scoring and was second on the team in rebounds.

Nolley was the main scoring threat for Hokies and since there wasn’t a ton of help around him, he began to force shots and drive to the hoop more and more as the season went on.

His 37% shooting from the field is certainly not ideal and his 3.1 turnovers per game need some work but it’s hard to put all of the blame on him. He was a primary ball-handler on a team the was struggling to put up points.

Nolley would fill in nicely as a primary scoring option, he left Virginia Tech and cited that he was interested in playing more out on the wing, with a 6’7 frame he would bring a real size advantage to the Huskies backcourt.

There’s a long line of coaches that are interested in getting Nolley for next season, he’s an NBA prospect in the making and likely won’t be sticking around to finish out his college eligibility. Nolley would be a season outlook changing pickup if Hurley can convince him to come to UConn.

Jake Weingarten was the one who reported that Nolley spoke with UConn coaches.
