- Georgia Tech will face Stanford as part of a tripleheader event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Dec. 13. It will be the first time the Yellow Jackets will face the Cardinal since 2000. “It’s a good game,” coach Josh Pastner told Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Us and Stanford, similar academic institutions.”
West Virginia will play Purdue, and Penn State will play Florida in the other games that day..
- There is hope that Pitt and West Virginia will continue their season series after the current four-game series ends following this year’s event on Nov. 13 in Morgantown.“I’d love to see it continued,” WVU athletic director Shane Lyons said on a conference call that was otherwise devoted to ramifications of the coronavirus. “I’ve had a couple of conversations with (athletic director) Heather Lyke at Pitt, one in November (when the teams played at Petersen Events Center). I think she’s on the same page as me.
“And talking to coach (Bob) Huggins, as well, we’d love to see that series continue. We will be in discussions with Pitt. That’s something that’s going to be definitely on our list to extend that series in basketball.”
The Mountaineers have won four straight games against Panthers and leads the all-time series 98-88.
- Bowling Green transfer Justin Turner, one of the most sought after grad transfers, cut Louisville from his list of suitors and is now down to four on April 5. Which leaves Missouri, Marquette, Iowa State, or staying at Bowling Green as options for the 6-4 guard.
- Florida State Seminoles offered 2020 class member Quincy Ballard a scholarship on April 4. Ballard is a 7-foot center from Winston-Salem.
- Former Pitt guard Trey McGowens has transferred to Nebraska on April 5.
- Illinois transfer Allan Griffin picked on April Syracuse as the place he will continue his collegiate career on April 5.
