New Mexico Lobos

The Lobos coaching staff has gone head-first into the transfer portal, going after as many capable players as possible. They already landed top-tier JUCO guard Saquan Singleton and are currently among the finalists, for forward Brandon Johnson (Western Michigan), David Sloan (Kansas State), Holland Woods (Portland State) and Destin Barnes (Jacksonville). Some are grad transfers, while others have to sit a year.

Either way, New Mexico’s roster will be changing just about every season but the need for a power conference starter such as Muhammad will remain. He’d be following the footsteps of fellow former Ohio State player JaQuan Lyle, who led the Lobos this past season with 14.9 ppg and 4.6 apg.

Seton Hall Pirates

With both Myles Powell and Quincy McKnight graduating, the Pirates will have to replace over 33 ppg of offense between the leading scorers. They’re after grad transfer guard Bryce Aiken to handle things for this season but will need help in the following year. It could be a moot point if Wichita State transfer Jamarius Burton commits to Seton Hall, another two-guard who would have to sit out a season.

Funny thing is, Muhammad would be a perfect fit when it comes to adding his elite defense. The Pirates have been a great defense under Kevin Willard. Add to it that he’s from the State of New Jersey and Seton Hall may actually be a favorite to land the guard. Of course, there may be scholarship number issues based on other transfer decisions in the coming week.
