NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing 5* wing Harrison Ingram top 10 teams
Tennessee Volunteers
Seemingly out of nowhere, the Vols have been a landing spot for many five-star perimeter players. They landed Josiah Jordan-James last year, and have incoming star guards Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer. Tennessee also added grad transfer forward EJ Anosike to bolster the roster next season, which looks to be a preseason Final Four contender.
Next year’s roster could be even better, with the Vols in contention for both Kennedy Chandler and Paolo Banchero. They could join the team as a package deal but there’s also a possibility that Chandler comes alone to Tennessee. It’s unclear what the duo’s impact could be with Ingram but the wing spot is wide-open in 2021 if he opts to go with the Vols, who is emerging as a national powerhouse and major threat to Kentucky.
Texas A&M Aggies
In an effort to overhaul the roster, second-year head coach Buzz Williams has been hard on the trail, landing a top-20 recruiting class for this season and already got 2021 top-30 guard Manny Obaseki to commit as well. There’s a huge need for perimeter assets going forward, with guards Savion Flagg, Jay Jay Chandler and Quenton Jackson all set to graduate after next year.
Texas A&M is rebuilding and it’ll take a couple of years and classes before they’re a viable contender in the SEC. Ingram would accelerate that process without question but outside of a clear potential role as top offensive option, can the Aggies make a better case than fellow SEC teams Arkansas and Tennessee? Coach Williams will have to make his best pitch yet to land him.
For a five-star prospect, Harrison Ingram’s list is very intriguing as it lacks the usual suspects. He could very well end up with a team not normally known for landing top-tier recruits, which makes this particular recruiting process one to watch in the upcoming months. Stanford and Purdue are reported frontrunners for now but with a year to decide, anything can happen and everyone is in the running.
