ACC Basketball breakout candidate – Wynston Tabbs (Boston College)

As perhaps the team most involved with the trade portal this offseason after seeing Jairus Hamilton, Julian Rishwain, and Chris Herren Jr. all decided to transfer out while with Rich Kelly, Frederick Scott, and James Karnik all transfer in. But rather than these new initiates, Wynston Tabbs provides the Eagles with their best chance to see a star break out.

Tabbs’s name might not ring a bell for the casual Boston College fan, but two years ago he played notably well as a freshman, averaging 13.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He even dropped 28 points on Sacred Heart during a December contest.

But last year, fans never saw him hit the hardwood, as he underwent season-ending left knee surgery, unfortunately causing some to forget about him. But next year, expect his story to change as he appears fully healthy and ready to deliver.

With superb athleticism and court vision, Tabbs offered fans some serious reasons to rise up and cheer during his freshmen year, contributing with acrobatic finishes and flashy passes to set up his teammates. Now returning to that form with a full calendar year to recover, those skills alongside the maturity that comes with a full year playing and a full year watching from the bench help materialize Tabbs as a potentially elite player for the Eagles, prompting him to once more emerge as a fan favorite and helpful addition to a team still trying to find its way in the ACC.
