NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that should target Ok State transfer Yor Anei
Potential NCAA Basketball option for Yor Anei – Kentucky Wildcats
Technically speaking, Kentucky still doesn’t have a true center on the roster for the 2020-21 season. They did land Wake Forest grad transfer center Olivier Sarr this offseason but he needs a waiver in order to play. If that doesn’t happen, and assuming Moussa Cisse doesn’t pick the Wildcats either in the coming weeks, they could be in play for Anei as well.
As a guaranteed eligible transfer, Anei would be a starting center who would be an experienced defender for the roster filled with freshmen. And since he’s not high volume on offense, he wouldn’t get in the way of the underclassmen showcasing their skills on offense. He may not be as good offensively as either Nick Richards or even Nate Sestina but Anei’s elite defense could be the reason why Kentucky makes it back to the Final Four.
Potential NCAA Basketball option for Yor Anei – Maryland Terrapins
After losing their two best players this offseason (Jalen Smith and Anthony Cowan), along with numerous outgoing transfers, Maryland still has several spots available on the roster. There’s also a need to upgrade the starting frontcourt, with Alabama grad transfer Galin Smith and Donta Scott the current projected starters.
With Eric Ayala, Aaron Wiggins, and Darryl Morsell all returning to provide a quality backcourt, Maryland isn’t really rebuilding for next year. They just need a quality big man down low to provide defense and some kind of scoring to balance things out. Anei could find himself a big role on a team that would contend for a top-6 spot in the Big Ten. But time is running out for the Terps to find more frontcourt help.
