Potential NCAA Basketball option for Yor Anei – Memphis Tigers

Even after landing current “sit-out” transfers Landers Nolley and Deandre Williams this offseason, Memphis is still looking to fill its last available scholarship. Just like Florida State and Kentucky, the Tigers is also a current finalist to land Moussa Cisse but as of now, the LSU Tigers are viewed as a favorite. This team is also in the running for Florida sit-out transfer Andrew Nembhard but it looks as if either Gonzaga or USC will land him.

In reality, Anei would be a better fit for Memphis that either player and would fill a clear need at the center position. With AAC Player of the Year Precious Achiuwa gone, that leaves transfer Isaiah Stokes as the projected starter at the five-spot. Anei would be a better defensive option and wouldn’t need to produce much on offense, particularly if either Williams or Nolley can get a waiver.

Potential NCAA Basketball option for Yor Anei – Michigan State Spartans

The Spartans have a number of players still in the NBA Draft process, most notably, leading big man Xavier Tillman. If he stays in the draft, that puts a lot of pressure on Marquette transfer Joey Hauser, backup big man Marcus Bingham, Jr. and incoming top-40 recruit Mady Sissoko. Head coach Tom Izzo prefers to have plenty of frontcourt depth so if the view is that Tillman isn’t coming back, look for them to go target another big man this offseason.

Will it be Anei? The timing surrounding what Tillman decides to do may make this untenable. But Anei leaving Oklahoma State right now very well could involve a desire to be on an NCAA Tournament team for his final two seasons. Even if there are other teams who could provide bigger roles, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him land somewhere that offers him a chance at glory in March.

Yor Anei isn’t the kind of NCAA Basketball player whose numbers will make a ton of noise. But as we head towards the end of June, there aren’t many available players who can have as big an impact, especially defensively, as he can. Look for any team with a hole in the frontcourt to make a run for Anei’s signature.
