USC Trojans
Southern Cal has done a tremendous job this offseason of not only acquiring elite talent but like their conferences foes to the East the momentum has carried over to the 2021 class. After signing the top center in 2020, Evan Mobley, top-100 guards Reese Dixon-Waters and Malik Thomas have already committed to the team’s 2021 class. Andy Enfield has made the USC program very attractive to potential recruits and has a very successful track record keeping West Coast talent home.
Kaluma played his prep ball in Glendale, Arizona, and made multiple trips to USC’s backyard to play powerhouses Sierra Canyon and Prolific Prep among others. His prowess on the defensive end surely fits the talents of recent Trojans teams, anchored by strong shot-blockers Onyeka Okongwu in 2019 and continuing with Evan Mobley in 2020. Kaluma will join a program filled with long athletes that disrupt offenses in multiple ways on the defensive end.
His interior presence and success in the middle of defenses will make him a valuable asset for a squad that rarely saw the free throw line. The offensive versatility he uses to attack defenses will provide plenty of opportunities to pile on stats, as well as creating an accelerated growth curve for his offensive skillsets. USC ranked well inside the top-100 for shot attempts last season and ensure Kaluma will get his touches. Having a sharpshooting weapon like San Jose State transfer Noah Baumann will also enable him to be a successful facilitator in a similar fashion to his projected impact at Syracuse.
