4. Wes Miller – UNC Greensboro (2012-2020)

When he was promoted to head coach in 2012, Miller instantly stood out among the youngest head coaches in the nation, but that doesn’t mean he lacked experience. He had played for North Carolina and won a national title with the 2005 team. He had spent a few seasons at several schools as an assistant, garnering experience. When mentor Mike Dement was fired by Greensboro, Miller took over and the rest is history.

For his recent work with the Spartans, Miller is one of the highest revered young coaches in the nation. He led the Spartans back to the NCAA Tournament in 2018 and has won at least 23 games in each of the last four seasons, finishing top 3 in the Southern each time as well. UNC Greensboro has again become a consistent winner and top contender in the league under Miller.

It’s only a matter of time before Miller is offered a high-major job, as his work with the Spartans has been fantastic. As the Southern improves, he’s responsible for UNC Greensboro becoming one of the major reasons, especially with their recent play. Despite his age, he’s shown his ability to bring and coach up young talent and should have the Spartans in position to make additional postseason runs in the very near future.
