NCAA Basketball: Ranking 2021 4-Star G James White’s top 12 schools
By Ian Mumm
3. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Outside of his initial season with the team, resulting in a 21-win campaign, Josh Pastner has been gradually building the Yello Jackets back into ACC contention. The team’s production has overwhelmingly been carried on the shoulders of lead guards and centers, during his tenure. Different from many other teams on the list, Georgia Tech has a pronounced emphasis on the defensive side of the ball.
Guards Jose Alvarado and Michael Devoe have thrived turning defensive takeaways into opportunities for easy buckets. With the Devoe’s stock improving each season, it’s possible White could immediately fill this role under Pastner with both players departing the program. His production and length on the defensive side point to an early impact in Atlanta.
Devoe was the only Georgia Tech player last season to average better than 34% from the perimeter. White’s consistency shooting the ball from the floor, and specifically the 3-point line, will push him to top that barrier and become an early fan favorite. The Yellow Jackets offer the best support for him on and off the court, as well as the opportunity to become the hometown hero for his native Atlanta.
