Alabama Crimson Tide

After rebuilding the backcourt after star Kira Lewis departure, head coach Nate Oats has been busy working on the frontcourt this offseason. That includes landing Yale grad transfer big man Jordan Bruner, as well as top-50 center Alex Tchikou, who reclassified and picked the Crimson Tide recently.

For Butler, working with Tchikou would be complicated enough in terms of playing time since Coach Oats loves using undersized lineups but there have been talks about the team landing five-star class of 2021 center Charles Bediako, who may make his own decision this summer. Even if he’s just around for a year, Butler would likely have to accept a redshirt campaign with this option.

Florida State Seminoles

While not on the caliber of a Duke and North Carolina on the recruiting trail, the Seminoles are looking for a mega class of their own. Recently, five-star shooting guard Matthew Cleveland joined top-50 guard Bryce McGowens as commits in the 2021 recruiting class. The team would love a big man to join the group as well, although there are plenty of other frontcourt players already on the roster.

Naheem McLeod, Quincy Ballard, and Tanor Ngom elected to join Florida State this offseason, all of whom are centers. That doesn’t even include returning frontcourt rotation players Balsa Koprivica, Raiquan Gray, and Malik Osbourne, who Butler would have to compete with as a freshman and sophomore since none of them are rising seniors currently. This is a case where the Seminoles’ depth is just too much compared to other options.
