What Stanford looks like with Harrison Ingram

This offseason has been both great and heartbreaking for Stanford Basketball. They landed five-star wing Ziaire Williams this offseason but saw star freshman guard Tyrell Terry stay in the NBA Draft after a breakout campaign. But with All-Pac 12 forward Oscar Da Silva coming back, the Cardinal expectations should include competing for an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Assuming both Da Silva and Williams are gone after next season, Ingram could be coming in with the expectation of being the lead scorer. He’ll have some talent to work with, including forward Spence Jones, along with another 2021 commit in point guard Isael Silva, ranked in the top-35 overall currently. Those two will be a nice offensive duo who can uplift the rest of the roster.

If somehow Williams decided to come back for another year, or four-star center prospect Ryan Mutombo also joined the team, the Cardinal could have the kind of roster that can compete for a Pac-12 title. And while Williams committed much later in the 2020 class, Ingram’s move could have the effect of other star recruits potentially picking Stanford.

The academics will be there, the basketball program just has to take the next step to be even more alluring for prospects. Harrison Ingram’s commitment is huge and continues the positive momentum but now the on-the-court results have to match in order for them to compete with Arizona, Oregon, and UCLA going forward.
