NBA Draft 2020: 5 teams who need to select a power forward
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder surprised many this season when they made the playoffs and pushed the Houston Rockets to seven games in the Western Conference Quarterfinals. With Billy Donovan off to Chicago and Chris Paul likely to be traded, it appears a new rebuild may be imminent anyways.
Danilo Gallinari is another player unlikely to return to OKC next season, as he’s an unrestricted free agent. Darius Bazley showed some promise during his rookie season, but he’s much more suited to play small forward than power forward.
Oklahoma City’s first pick is at No. 25. Jalen Smith isn’t likely to be available then, so Isaiah Stewart might be the best option at the power forward position. Another option for the Thunder to consider is Aleksej Pokuševski. The 7-foot Serbian is one of the more intriguing big men in this draft, with a number of versatile skills and a 19th birthday that doesn’t come before Christmas.
The Thunder’s second pick is at No. 53. There could be a number of interesting options available then. Killian Tillie is practically a veteran at this point, but all he did over the course of his Gonzaga career is produce numbers and wins. Additionally, former Mississippi State power forward Reggie Perry is moving up boards, but he would be a good player to pluck if he falls this far.
