7. team. 447. . . . Hokies

In their first season without head coach Buzz Williams, Virginia Tech was… bad, they were very bad. The Hokies finished the season with a 7-13 record against ACC opponents, and a 16-16 record overall.

The good news for Virginia Tech fans is that they added three three-star transfers in Justyn Mutts, Cordell Pemsl, and Cartier Diarra, plus two four-star freshmen in Joe Bamisile, and Darius Maddox, plus a three-star freshman in David N’Guessan.

In addition the newcomers, Virginia Tech will also have three of their top four scorers back, four of their top-five rebounders, and three of their top-four assist leaders as well.

This being said, although Virginia Tech had a rough 2019-20 season, the Hokies are looking better for next season as they have a good mix of solid returning players, plus newcomers with both freshmen and transfers.

Here is what Virginia Tech’s roster will look like for the 2020-21 season:

  • Joseph Bamisile, Freshman, Guard
  • David N’Guessan, Freshman, Forward
  • Gill Williamson, Freshman, Forward
  • Darius Maddox, Freshman, Guard
  • Hunter Cattoor, Sophomore, Guard
  • Nahiem Alleyne, Sophomore, Guard
  • Jalen Cone, Sophomore, Guard
  • John Ojiako, Sophomore, Forward
  • Grant Yates, Redshirt Sophomore, Forward
  • Tyrece Radford, Redshirt Sophomore, Guard
  • Keve Aluma, Redshirt Junior, Forward
  • Justyn Mutts, Redshirt Junior, Forward
  • Cartier Diarra, Graduate Student, Guard
  • Wabissa Bede, Graduate Student, Guard
  • Cordell Pemsl, Graduate Student, Forward

Oddly enough, Virginia Tech doesn’t have a single senior on their roster for the 2020-21 season, but they do have three graduate students. The Hokies have 15 total players on their roster for next season, with only eight of them being on the roster last season.

This being said, while Virginia Tech has some talented players on their roster for the 2020-21 season, that doesn’t exactly mean they’ll mesh. With only eight players on this year’s team from last season, it’s a mystery as to whether or not the Hokies will mesh and make their way back to the NCAA Tournament.
