Similar to Arizona, Kansas has its own issues with the NCAA regarding alleged recruiting violations. Considering what happened at Oklahoma State and them receiving a postseason ban, something of that nature could happen here for the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Hopefully, that would be the worst scenario, which wouldn’t affect Andrews since he would arrive afterward.

But it may have already have had an impact on the program, at least when it comes to prospects. They were considered big favorites for five-star wing Kendall Brown and four-star combo guard Tamar Bates, but each decided to play for Baylor and Texas respectively. Losing out on Bates hurt particularly since the Jayhawks have potential problems on the perimeter.

Starting point guard Marcus Garrett is a senior, while five-star freshman guard Bryce Thompson likely won’t be around after two years. Even if the program finds a way to land five-star combo guard prospect Hunter Sallis in the 2021 class, he very well could leave after one year, still not solving the problem in the 2022-23 season.

All that said, this is still a nationally recognized program that contends for Big 12 titles and Final Four appearances every single season. And it’s wide open for Andrews to come in and play big minutes as a freshman. Of course, you never know who Coach Bill Self will have coming in months from now, which would potentially change everything.
