NCAA Basketball Recruiting: 2022 4-star G Ramel Lloyd Jr. trims list to 8

Baylor Bears
It’s hard to argue with recruits looking at the Baylor program as a future home. The Bears under head coach Scott Drew have become a mainstay and powerhouse in college basketball for the greater part of the last decade. The team would’ve had a favorable shot at a national title last March before things were shut down, but their 6-0 start in 2020 is also a sign that they’re primed to do it this year as well.
The momentum doesn’t stop there though, as the program has assembled a top-10 recruiting class in 2021 to bolster their overall depth and backcourt. Signing 5-star guards Langston Love and Kendall Brown is an accomplishment for any team, but the timing for the Bears is significant towards their long-term successes. However, this comes on the heels of the team’s strong 2020 recruiting class including 4-star guard LJ Cryer.
Despite the expectations of a depleted roster, relative to their current strength, the Bears will still feature a strong 5-man rotation of guards entering the 2022 season. This season they’ve employed a 6-man guard rotation leaving room for Lloyd to come in and make a solid freshman contribution.
However, the Bears continue to swing for the fences on the recruiting trail with some of the nation’s elite talent, especially in-state, that could further crowd his chances at reaching the goal of being an early contributor at a high-major program. Baylor is a possibility, but seemingly low one from the outlook.
