12. South Carolina Gamecocks (5-9, 3-7)

Outside of the win on the road against a ranked Florida team, the Gamecocks have struggled throughout the season. They’ve lost three straight games, all at home, although the last two against both Alabama and Mississippi were one-possession games in the final minutes.

South Carolina has been led by two star juniors in AJ Lawson (17.9 ppg) and Keyshawn Bryant (14.1 ppg), the lone double-digit scorers on the team. The lack of any frontcourt depth outside of 6’11 center Wildens Leveque has been too much for the small Gamecocks to overcome in the SEC.

This week could prove even more difficult for the team, with matchups against both Missouri and Tennessee. The following road game at Mississippi State could prove decisive in their efforts to avoid the very bottom, just one win ahead of both Vanderbilt and Texas A&M in the standings.

11. Georgia Bulldogs (12-8, 5-8)

The 7-0 start to the season gave optimism for the Bulldogs but an 0-4 start to SEC play quickly derailed that. But a 5-2 run in the middle of the season allowed them to be part of the “middle” of the standings, thanks to impressive wins over Kentucky, Auburn, and twice over Ole Miss. Problem is, Georiga is one of the worst defensive teams in the country, recently off of a loss to Alabama in which they gave up 115 points in regulation.

Freshman guard K.D. Johnson has only played in 10 of the Bulldogs games but has been coming on as of late, averaging 24 ppg in the past couple of games. He, along with sophomores Sahvir Wheeler and Toumani Camara will be the foundation of the program’s future… once they learn how to play some defense.
