UNC Basketball: 12 candidates to succeed Roy Williams as head coach

The last name we’re going to look at for this Carolina job is a bit of an unusual one. It’s an experience head coach at a power conference school who has no prior connection to the Tar Heels or even the state of North Carolina. It’s also a guy whose own school likely is at issue with how the program has stagnated in recent years.
White played collegiate at Ole Miss before spending most of his assistant coaching career with the Rebels. His head coaching career started with a successful 4-year stint at Louisiana Tech. He was hired to success Billy Donovan at Florida in 2015 and has led the Gators to an Elite Eight in his first six years in Gainesville. The SEC has gotten much tougher in recent years, but he’s still won six NCAA Tournament games in four trips with the Gators.
There’s a long list of talented head coaches who could be intriguing names for North Carolina, so why consider White? The bottom line is that he already knows about stepping in for a legendary coach in taking over for Donovan and his work with the Gators hasn’t been bad. Florida is still a productive, competitive program and there’s no doubt he could do the same with the Tar Heels for years to come.
After careful consideration, we’ve looked closely at twelve candidates to succeed Roy Williams, but who do you think will end up as the next head coach at North Carolina?
