Mac McClung, Adam Miller among top 20 new available NCAA Basketball transfers
8. G Desi Sills – Arkansas Razorbacks
2020-21 stats: 7.5 ppg and 2.7 rpg
The junior guard looked great to start out the season as a starter, including four straight games of at least 16 points. But as Moses Moody and the other guards took clear leading roles in league play, Sills relegated to the bench as a reserve. That included a number of games of 0 points.
But I’m a fan of Sills’ scoring ability when on the floor, with a per 40 career average of over 14 points. Even if he has to go down a level to become a clear starter and go-to guy, Sills has the potential to be an all-conference and perhaps Player of the Year star at the mid-major level.
7. G Darryl Morsell – Maryland Terrapins
2020-21 stats: 9.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.8 apg
Morsell has started 108 games in his four-year career at Maryland, although he never scored more than 9.0 ppg in a season. What makes him an under-the-radar transfer option is his elite defensive ability, named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year this past season.
At 6’5 and 200 pounds, Morsell can defend all three guard positions and can handle and pass the ball at the one-spot. Teams who already have offense but need a defensive game-changer can plug the 5th-year senior anywhere on the perimeter and it is successful. His versatility makes Morsell a big asset to target in the portal.
