SEC Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2021-22 season
By Matt Melton
No. 2 – Arkansas Razorbacks
What a year it was for coach Eric Musselman and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
After a near-complete roster turnover, the Hogs finished 2nd in the SEC and made it to the Elite 8 for the first time since 1994-95. Arkansas will certainly lose a few notable players including SEC Freshman of the Year Moses Moody, Justin Smith, and Jalen Tate, but the Hogs are already reloading for next season.
Headlining Arkansas’ returning players will be guards SEC Sixth Man of the Year JD Notae, Davonte Davis, and Khalen Robinson, as well as forwards Connor Vanover and Jaylin Williams.
As was the same last offseason, however, the Razorbacks have already hit the transfer portal hard landing Pittsburgh guard Au’Diese Toney and Miami guard Chris Lykes. The Razorbacks also bring in 4-star guard Chance Moore and 3-star forward Akol Mawein.
Arkansas had a phenomenal season a year ago, and are setting themselves up to do the exact same in 2021-22. The Hogs will once again be loaded with talent, can Arkansas win the SEC next season?
