Kansas Jayhawks

The decision of former five-star guard Bryce Thompson leaving made the Jayhawks even more aggressive in the portal looking to land another guard to new another newcomer in Drake transfer point guard Joseph Yesufu. The lone true shooting guard on the roster is Christian Braun, who typically plays the small forward role. And right now, shooting and spacing are a concern on this current roster.

Of course, this is all without knowing whether starters Marcus Garrett and Ochai Agbaji will come back this season or not. If both do return, then there’s no room for Plummer to come in and have meaningful minutes. If it’s Agbaji, who is more likely to come back, then Plummer would still fight for minutes but could be a great 6th man option for a team with the current most straight trips to the NCAA Tournament, and will likely continue to do so in 2022.

Marquette Golden Eagles

New head coach Shaka Smart has been able to bring three former Texas commits with him up north, including three-star guard Emarion Ellis. He also brought in Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year  Tyler Kolek, a shooting guard with four years left to play. And with DJ Carton expecting to be back, as well as Jose Perez, the Golden Eagles already have a decent backcourt to contend with in the Big East.

With senior guard Koby McEwen out, Marquette may be looking for some senior presence and ability in the backcourt. Plummer’s ability to shoot would certainly be a boost off the ball but would be fit in the offense or could things fall apart? This would be a high risk/high reward option for both sides but if you’re Coach Smart and looking to get the program back to the NCAA Tournament, you take the risk.
