Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners will be losing their top two guards off of this past season’s roster, could they bounce back with an addition of the veteran Goldwire?

As mentioned previously, Oklahoma and new head Porter Moser will be losing their top two guards off this past season’s roster in leading scorer Austin Reaves (NBA) and De’Vion Harmon who entered the transfer portal. Two other Sooner guards, Alondes Williams and Trey Phipps have also entered the portal.

While a potential addition of Goldwire wouldn’t necessarily help to replace the lost production of the 30+ PPG of Reaves and Harmon, it would help solidify an Oklahoma backcourt defensively in the tough Big 12. Pair Goldwire with the returning Umoja Gibson and Elijah Harkless, and you have an experienced and very good defensive backcourt.

Oklahoma’s roster still has gaps for next season after player decisions combined with the retirement of head coach Lon Kruger. Everyone knows of the success at Loyola-Chicago of Moser as the head coach, could Goldwire be the first big recruiting win of Moser’s tenure in Norman?
