Point Guard: Andrew Nembhard

The Florida transfer was a key contributor for the Zags last season. Nembhard averaged a little over nine points a game and four assists. Most notably he scored 19 points, dished out six assists, and pulled down five boards in the team’s only single-digit win over West Virginia back in December.

Being the 4th or 5th option on the offensive end, Nembhard’s numbers don’t tell his whole story. Andrew is a combo guard who can create his own shot off the dribble and gets players involved in the high screen and roll. Nembhard also has a strong post-game against smaller defenders down on the block.

With Kispert, Suggs, and Ayayi out of the fold, the Canadian Native will be expected to take on a major role next season. Nembhard will need to be the “go get a bucket guy” in clutch situations or to stop runs if Gonzaga is planning on duplicating last year’s success.

We have seen numerous players in the past make a big leap season to season in Spokane and baring anything unforeseen I’d expect Nembhard to join the club. There is a scenario where Nembhard finds himself in the All-American discussion throughout the year.
