Minnesota Golden Gophers

New head coach Ben Johnson has been completely rebuilding the roster this offseason, including adding a pair of key JUCO transfers. Guard Abdoulaye Thiam and forward Charlie Daniels (Indian River State College) are likely to get a spot in the rotation and so would Curry, as the only true center on the roster is four-star Treyton Thompson, who is nearly 80 pounds lighter.

Curry would give Minnesota legit size for the upcoming season and he could very well end up being a top-3 producer on the team. He could play in the Big Ten with a large role, although the odds of him winning much wouldn’t be high at all. Even with Curry, the Gophers could end up in the bottom 2 or 3 in the league standings.

Penn State Nittany Lions

The Nittany Lions are in a similar situation as Minnesota, having a first-year head coach in Micah Shrewsbury and a new roster. The good news for them is that they were able to keep a few key pieces such as Myles Dread, Sam Sessions, and forward John Harrar, along with a big transfer pickup in point guard Jalen Pickett.

Aside from Harrar and JUCO transfer Jevonnie Scott (South Plains College), Penn State doesn’t have much depth in the frontcourt. Curry and Harrar could work together on the court in the frontcourt or rotate minutes with Scott. There’s plenty of minutes available for this Big Ten program and they could end up competitive overall.
