NBA Draft 2021: A look at the 10 best Big Ten Basketball prospects
Isaiah Livers – Michigan – 6’7, 230 lbs – Senior – July 1998
Another shooter with plus size, Livers was a crucial part of Michigan’s Elite Eight run. He’s shown steady growth in that area in his four-year college career, apexing at 43% on five attempts this past season.
A spot-up four seems like the path for Livers to succeed, where he can use his mechanically sound form to stretch the defense out, while using his size and frame to scrap for rebounds. His lack of foot speed and handle limit the rest of his offensive game. While he’s a good passer, it’s hard for him to draw enough defensive attention to use it.
Defensively, Livers is a bit of a tweener. He doesn’t have the footspeed to hang with wings and is a bit small to defend bigger fours. He’s an understanding team defender but his physical limitations hinder his ability on that end.
Livers’ wide frame, age, and injured foot at the end of the season would give me reservations about drafting him in the ’40s, but he does have a blend of shooting, IQ, and is a winner throughout his college career that could provide some value at the next level.
