2. Ohio State Buckeyes

Assuming both EJ Liddell and Duane Washington Jr. returns, the Buckeyes will be a national title contender for next season. The program will be in solid shape even once they leave, as Ohio State already has a top 2022 recruiting class set so far, including four-star guards Bowen Hardman, Bruce Thorton Jr., and Roddy Gayle.

What they don’t have yet is a big man committed. And with Liddell, Kyle Young, and grad transfer Joey Brunk all set to leave, Filipowski can come in and play immediately. And unlike many of the other options, Ohio State will have a great supporting cast for him to work with while playing at a top-25 level.

1. Duke Blue Devils

I had to question whether or not Coach K’s pending retirement after this season will affect Duke’s ability to recruit going forward. And while the jury is still out on future new head coach Jon Scheyer, it likely won’t mean much for the 2022 recruiting class. Especially since there will be a ton of potentially playing time available with five-star forwards AJ Griffin and Paolo Banchero set to be gone after one year if things go well.

Next. Best Duke players to ever play for Coach K. dark

The Blue Devils will be starting over on the recruiting trail and will likely have to deal with negative attacks by opposing teams. But Filipowski would be the ideal player to join the program and could start depending on who else they land. He would be a nice stretch forward that could be around for more than one season and provide roster stability while being a potential long-term star in the ACC. If Duke targets him strongly, it’ll be hard to say no… regardless of who the head coach is.
