8. Kansas Jayhawks

This would be a very interesting option for Nganga, as the Jayhawks are one of the top programs year in and year out west of the Mississippi River and have a Final Four caliber roster or next season. They’re led by their frontcourt, featuring Jalen Wilson and David McCormack. There’s also a pair of four-star forward recruits coming in with KJ Adams and Zachary Clemence.

Nganga may have more raw talent but not all five-star prospects end up working out at Kansas, especially the more raw ones. He isn’t the same as a Silvio De Souza but I do wonder if the development will be there, particularly if this recruit only wants to be in college for 1-2 years. This just might not be the best match for both sides, because we know Kansas will land another top-tier forward in the 2022 class.

7. Memphis Tigers

“Development” is a key word I would use regarding head coach Penny Hardaway and the Tigers but it’s been a mixed bag overall. Outside of former AAC Player of the Year Precious Achiuwa, several other top recruits have either underachieved or been just “solid” playing for the program. That includes center Moussa Cisse, who transferred out after one year filled with ups and downs.

Even with Chandler and Johnathan Lawson coming in, there should be a fair amount of playing time available for Nganga if he picked Memphis. But I’m not completely sold on Coach Hardaway’s abilities to turn this particular recruit into a star in the first couple of years, which may end up being his timeline.
