Memphis Tigers

The Tigers coaching staff got some clarity this week, with head coach Penny Hardaway not taking the Orlando Magic job in the NBA and also getting Hall of Fame head coach Larry Brown to join him. That’s a big get for Memphis and could be a major selling point to current free agents.

Carr would be a tremendous upgrade offensively over Alex Lomax at point guard and along with Landers Nolley would form a lethal scoring backcourt. Memphis has had an issue with a go-to option and the Gopher transfer would be that, while still not being forced to do too much. The AAC may not be the most high-profile conference but winning in Memphis would be as big as winning just about anywhere.

NC State Wolfpack

This is a wildcard option for Carr to consider because it’s hard to envision him wanting to go somewhere where his usage would take a major dip. The Wolfpack would offer him the chance to come back to the ACC and play a major role on a team that has pieces but needs a proven lead guard.

After losing Shakeel Moore and Braxton Beverly, NC State does have sophomore Cam Hayes and Virginia transfer Casey Morsell. The pairing of Carr and Morsell would be extremely interesting, as one is an elite defender and poor scorer and the other is the complete opposite, which suggests that they can be complementary backcourt pieces.
