SF Evan Mahaffey (No. 45 SF, No. 187 overall)

Team: West Virginia

The Mountaineers received their first whiff of the recruiting trail when the number one player in the state of West Virginia dashed for the University of Virginia. The Mountaineers have gotten two commitments of their own, with three-star power forward Josiah Harris and unranked point guard Josiah Davis.

Evan Mahaffey steps in as the next guy to watch out for from West Virginia. The Mountaineers offered back in October of 2020 and have been high on him throughout the entirety of the past season.

With the pedigree of recruiting Huggins has, alongside the competition, this is the Mountaineers recruit to lose.

Mahaffey is a fringe four-star prospect and will more than likely get the bump, prior to signing day. Cincinnati, Xavier, and Indiana are other teams that are in his recruitment.

However, Indiana has not offered yet and Huggins will more than likely want Mahaffey to take an official visit.

The activity from West Virginia should ramp up, as the lone Top 100 prospect they have offered is Tyler Nickel, who seems to have a heavier interest in other schools.

If Bob Huggins wants him, he is more than willing to put in more effort to land the forward from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Prediction: West Virginia
