E.J. Onu, C, Shawnee State

The best NBA Draft prospect you’ve never heard of, E.J. Onu went to a small school in the NAIA called Shawnee State, where he dominated the last two seasons.

Onu stands at 6-foot-11 and weighs in at 240 pounds, making him a physically intimidating presence before he even steps on the court. He’s slim and has an inhuman 7-foot-8 wingspan, which allows him to be a shot-blocking force and a vacuum for rebounds.

He put up monster numbers in his senior season for the Bears, averaging nearly 17 points and eight rebounds per game while shooting the ball at 57% from the field, as well as a very good 40% from 3-point range on almost four attempts per game. He was all over the court every single game, running the floor hard and being a lob threat. Onu plays with a high motor which every team in the league would be enamored with.

Onu won’t get the coverage that he deserves, as he only sits at No. 86 on ESPN’s Big Board. But if NBA scouts do their due diligence, they’ll cut on the tape of the monstrous E.J. Onu and see an energy big man that deserves a spot on a roster.
